Disaster Response Tips from
Midwest Freeze-Dry, Ltd.
 Video and Audio Tapes
 Handling
- Keep all materials in original sleeves or boxes if
possible.
- Never attempt to unroll, unwind or dry tapes.
- Drain excess water.
- Wear disposable gloves and masks while handling.
 Packing
- Pack wet materials in heavy duty vinyl crates if
available.
- Plastic lined, heavy duty cardboard boxes can also be
used.
- Pack in zip closure plastic bags to preserve labeling
information.
 Freezing
- Freeze everything as quickly as possible. This will
inhibit mold growth.
 Shipping
- Ship overnight, via UPS or FedEx, Monday through
Wednesday.
- Call Midwest Freeze-Dry, Inc. and alert us of the
incoming shipment.
- Disposable styrene coolers with packets of Blue IceÔ
are ideal for overnight shipping.
- Bubble wrap or styrene peanuts may be substituted as an
insulating material.
- Pack styrene cooler in shipping carton.
- Large quantities may require specialized shipping and/or
a refrigerated truck.
- Midwest Freeze-Dry will organize and schedule shipment.
- Midwest Freeze-Dry can send the crates and an
experienced team to pack and ship for you.
