Advanced Plasma Fumigation

Plasma energy is generally not what one calls to mind when searching for a means to eradicate unwanted mold, bacteria, or insect infestation of wet library books, papers documents, leather books, and vellum books. Vacuum freeze drying has been used successfully to dry such materials but this process does not kill mold or bacteria.

Midwest Freeze-Dry, Ltd. has pioneered the use of radio generated plasma energy to solve this problem. Plasma energy is considered by many leading physicists to be the fourth state of matter. It can also be described as a type of gaseous energy. The process of drying materials is greatly accelerated when this energy is utilized.

Although it sounds extremely complicated, and from a technical standpoint it is, the generation of such energy can be described in relatively simple terms. The wet / frozen material is loaded into the chamber and the air is pumped out: i.e. a vacuum is formed. This is accomplished by using a series of roughing and refining pumps. At this point the inside temperature of the chamber is well below the freezing point of water. Now that a vacuum has been created, the chamber is back filled with environmentally inert gas. The gas suffocates any insects that have managed to survive up to this point, as well as provide a "fuel" for the generation of plasma energy.

At this point the radio frequency generator is brought on-line. The radio waves it generates are the same kind that flow harmlessly through the air, and our bodies, everyday. In this case they are highly concentrated and directed into one small area. As soon as the radio waves enter the chamber and mix with the inert gas Argon, Nitrogen and Helium plasma energy is formed. In turn the plasma energy causes any water molecules within the field to spin apart. As they spin apart the hydrogen atoms are "stolen" to form an even stronger plasma field. The benefit of plasma formation is that the waves of energy "scramble" the DNA of any bacteria, mold, fungus or insect larva. Thus making them unable to reproduce or mature.

As soon as the radio frequency generator is shut off, the water molecules recombine as gas. Pumped out of the chamber, it is re-condensed and disposed of through normal means.

Your books, documents, papers, leather books vellum documents and textiles are then removed from the chamber, dry and free of any organic growth.
